Waka Flocka Flame’s Mother Is No Longer Nicki Minaj’s Manager!
Let the push for the big money begin for Young Money’s First Lady, Nicki Minaj. She’s taken some baby steps by firing her manager Debra Antney. What does this mean for the Waka Flocka camp? Read more after the jump.
Antney, who is also the mother of rapper Waka Flocka Flame, was told of the news in a rather interesting fashion. According to HipHopDX, she says that she received a series of letters, banning her from doing business with Minaj.
“I received a letter, which was [a] suspension,” said Antney in a recent interview. “The next letter that came in was a cease and desist in doing all business with Nicki Minaj from Nicki’s attorney.” I’m not sure if that’s the best way at going about doing business, but as Paul Mooney has eloquently stated, “Black is the new White.” So with that in mind, you would think that Antney — who has two very high profile artists under her belt — would be salty about the way things ended with Nicki Minaj. Think again.
While Antney does not know the professional reason as to why she’s been fired, she admits that she holds no ill-will towards Minaj and Young Money. “I love Nicki. I wish her the most success. It’s not about the music, she’s like one of my children. I wish her no harm, only much success,” she finalizes.
For those who may not be entirely familiar with Debra Antney’s resume, she is currently Gucci Mane‘s manager and CEO of So Icey/Mizay Entertainment, an affiliate of Asylum/Warner Bros. It seems that the recently minted XXL Magazine cover girl is looking to get back and put the finishing touches on her as-yet-to-be-titled debut. She recently issued an apology to fans for canceling her leg of the nationwide tour with Rihanna on Twitter by saying, “Barbz, I’m sorry 2 say I will not be going out on RiRi’s tour. I’ve decided 2 use that time 4 the completion of my album. Hope u understand.” As of press time there is currently no release date to accompany her album.
