Netflix Picks #1
Those who know me know I’m a huge fan of Netflix. I love it so much I don’t have cable. AS the Netflix expert, here are my the pics I think you should have on your list.
Super High Me
Synopsis: Determined to find out the true effects of cannabis on the human body, stand-up comedian and former Stoner of the Year Doug Benson chronicles his experience as he avoids pot for a month and then consumes massive amounts of the greens for 30 days. More than just an amusing story about one man’s quest to get superhigh, this 2007 documentary also examines the hotly contested debate over medical marijuana use.
My thoughts: Why couldn’t I be a part of this?
Synopsis: When his best friend is murdered by the shadowy Ozunu clan, Raizo (Rain), an orphan raised to be an assassin, vows revenge. But a government agent (Naomie Harris) is also trying to expose the gang, and now, the two must work together to bring the murderer to justice. Time is running out as the clan’s professional killers chase the pair across Europe. James McTeigue directs this action thriller also featuring Rick Yune, Ben Miles and Shô Kosugi.
My thoughts: I mean, can you ever go wrong with a ninja movie? The graphics are great. but there’s not much of a storyline
Weeds: Season 5
Synopsis: Showtime’s hit dramedy lights up another season of good times after a tumultuous fourth-year finale that found suburban-mom-turned-drug-lord Nancy Botwin (Golden Globe winner Mary-Louise Parker) sharing some shocking news with Tijuana, Mexico, Mayor Esteban Reyes (Demián Bichir). While Andy (Justin Kirk) continues to wrestle with his feelings for Nancy, Shane (Alexander Gould) shows interest in taking up the family business.
My thoughts: If you’re a fan you’ve probably already seen this season. If your not you need to start watching now.
Gangland: Season 4
Synopsis: Step inside the violent world of 12 of America’s most brutal gangs in the fourth season of this gritty History Channel series. The show lets viewers in on the dynamics within the gangs while also providing insight from law enforcement experts. Episodes cover the Avenues from Los Angeles, the East Coast Pagans, Chicago’s Latin Kings, the Best Friends from Detroit, Tennessee’s LMG (Love Murdering Gangsters), Colorado’s Sons of Silence and more.
My Thoughts: Amazing show, plus it sometimes scares the sh*t out of me.
Synopis: Fifty years after a time capsule was buried at a local school, teacher John Koestler (Nicolas Cage) examines its contents and discovers that it holds many shockingly true predictions. Soon, John is convinced that his family will play a role in an impending apocalypse. Rose Byrne co-stars as Diane Wayland, the daughter of the woman who first buried the capsule, in this tense thriller from ace sci-fi auteur Alex Proyas.
My Thoughts: OK, so I’ll be the first to admit the ending to this movie was completely stupid but it was a good ride all the way up to the last 15 minutes.
