These Are NOT Gilbert Arenas’s Adidas
After the Washington Wizards point guard Gilbert Arenas plead guilty to felony charges in January for bringing firearms to the locker room of Washington, DC’s Verizon Center, adidas quickly terminated its endorsement contract with the three-time NBA All-Star.
Adidas had been working on the next model in the high-scoring guard’s Agent Zero line. So while Arenas cools his heels serving time at a halfway house (he was given a month-long sentence in late March), adidas removed the Gil Zero logos from the sneaker, replaced them with their standard adidas logos and presto: the Elemental Formotion 3. These trainers retail for $90.
The Gil Zero models haven’t exactly been flying off the shelves. The fact the last couple of seasons saw numerous setbacks with his surgically repaired left knee that kept him off the court and from showcasing his signature kicks, didn’t help.
It will be interesting to see what brand of sneakers Agent Zero laces up for the 2010–2011 season.
