VH1 Announces More Music-Oriented Programming
VH1′s latest round of “celeb-reality” shows, including increasingly ridiculed Basketball Wives and the mediocre Brandy & Ray-J: A Family Business, are [thankfully] being put on the backburner this upcoming fall television season and real music is moving back to the forefront.
Contestant-style shows like Tool Academy and Rock Of Love are also being replaced in favor of new episodes of popular series Behind The Music and VH1 Storytellers.
The network’s recently announced new programming shifts the focus away from celebrity reality shows and towards live music, with new tapings of favorite series Divas and Hip-Hop Honors also scheduled.
Christina Aguilera kicks things into gear, currently shooting episodes of Behind The Music (she’ll hopefully respond to Pink‘s not-so-nice comments about her in her own special) and Storytellers to coincide with the release of her upcoming album, Bionic.
Fans of reality shows don’t need to fret just yet, however—of the 44 original series produced for 2010, new shows include You’re Cut Off!, in which nine young women are removed from their privileged lifestyles; Money Hungry, a weight-loss competition in which contestants lose their own cash if they don’t drop the pounds and Diary Of A Hip Hop Girlfriend, a docu-soap following four women in love with big name rappers.
