The summer of 2010 is shaping up to be one to remember thanks in part to the Rock The Bells Music Festival. An impressive line up of legendary emcees has signed on to perform their classic albums during the annual concert series now in its 7th year, including KRS-One who will perform tracks from his Criminal Minded album, Slick Rick who will take audiences back to 1988 with cuts from The Great Adventures of Slick Rick, Rakim performing his hip-hop masterpiece Paid in Full, and Wu-Tang Clan performing their Enter the Wu-Tang: 36 Chambers album.

Earlier in the week, reports that the reclusive Lauryn Hill would perform her critically acclaimed 1999 album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, as headliner of this year’s festival had hip-hop fans everywhere saying a collective prayer, but within 24 hours, those reports were shot down by various media outlets, including The Washington Post, and the event’s organizers. Nevertheless, fans won’t walk away feeling shortchanged as the Clipse, Murs, Wiz Khalifa, 9th Wonder and others are also slated to appear during this summer’s edition of the festival.

The 7th Annual Rock the Bells Festival launches with a show at the NOS Events Center in San Bernardino, CA, on August 21st. Subsequent dates include August 22nd at the Shoreline Amphitheater in San Francisco, Governor’s Island in New York City on August 28th, and Merriweather Pavilion in Washington, D.C. on August 29th.
