Cali Swag District (CSD) are taking the regional “dougie” dance phenomenon to the next level with their debut song “Teach Me How To Dougie” and its instructional music video that debuted recently on MTV.

Comprised of rapper/DJ C-Smoove, rappers Yung, JayAre and resident dancer M-Bone, CSD hail from the streets of Inglewood, CA. The “dougie” (a basic dance involving waving your arms and bucking your knees; dancers then add their own twist to it) was introduced to CSD by a high-school friend who attended Texas Southern University. Knowing the dance originated in Dallas, the group wanted to add their “Cali Swag” to the movement. “In the end, we loved what they where doing in Texas so much that we wanted to bring it to Cali,” explains Yung.

“Teach Me How To Dougie” was recently highlighted to be “stark, aerobic [and] infectious” by the New York Times. The official video (which has generated over 1.5 million views on YouTube) is packed with unique individuals showing off their own take on the dance. Teyana Taylor was invited to join the fun and does her own version of the “dougie” with the boys:

Check out the behind the scenes footage of the video, shot in one day in Los Angeles:

A Tumblr site has also been set up, TeachMeHowToDougie.com, showcasing user-submitted videos of the “dougie”:

Cali Swag District’s debut album is slated for release this summer, through Checkmate Music Group/Capitol Records.

ButI need help in a certain way no well edjucated white person can help me in (and lets face it all white people are well edjucated). Anyways I need help getting this fat black girl in my tech class to hop on my junk. I am a bit lost and have tried all my white pick up moves but apparently she doesn’t like barry manallow and crackers. I am doing my best but I get a hard one every time she walks by…. I am so lost and I cant wait until she grows up and becomes a prostitute (wich all black girls do) it will take to long and by then I will be in jail. I guess all I can do is hope and pray
