Olympic Gold: Nike Air Zoom Barcelona
While the most recent Olympic team comprised of NBA superstars may be worthy of the rehashed Dream Team title, there can only be one OG Dream Team. This was the squad that laced ‘em up for the Summer Games of 1992 in Barcelona. With hall of famers such as MJ, Bird, Magic, and, of course, Pat Ewing, the USA Men’s Basketball team was a shoe-in to swipe the gold, and that’s exactly what they did, with style and ease.
You may recall some iconic kicks sported during these games, such as the Jordan Olympic VIIs worn by his airness, and the Olympic Nike Air Force 180 donned by Sir Charles. What you may not remember is the Nike Air Ballistic High which the Admiral, David Robinson, rocked during the games. As a tribute to these games, and the Dream Team as a whole, Nike has slated a fusion of the Nike Air Force 180 & the Nike Air Ballistic High to make an appearance midway through the summer. Clad in a patriotic red, white and blue, the shoe is accented in gold as a reminder of United States supremacy in hoops, during the ’92 games.
