YC The Cynic Puts The Art Into Hip-Hop
MC Shan said it best: “Hip-hop was set out in the dark, they used to do it out in the park.” Today, hip-hop is on many different stages, from radio and television to Internet. But what about the park?! Well I introduce you to YC The Cynic, a rapper who hails from the Bronx, New York. What differentiates YC from other rappers and emcees? He’s one of those rappers who could have done it out in the park.
Hip-hop began in the South Bronx so it’s not hard to recognize where YC is from. YC is lyrical, has an ever growing vocabulary, a polished flow, and a respectable presence on the mic. Listen to YC and at times you may think you’re listening to one of hip-hop’s forefathers because of his enhanced cadence and engaging delivery. He takes time to make sure you understand every single word that comes out of his mouth and joins to form those slick metaphors.
YC’s latest mixtape, You’re Welcome, is a showcase of the young man’s talent. While you listen to him you may hear hints of Mos Def and just real-deal emceeing. Here are a few cuts from his latest mixtape, guaranteed to leave you all craving more.
