If we had told you in ’07 that Pittsburgh’s hip-hop community was breeding some top-notch talent, you wouldn’t have believed us. You probably would have even laughed out loud. Well, thanks to Wiz Khalifa and his extended Taylor Gang crew (the hundreds of thousands of extremist fanatics across the country who ride or die for Wiz, mostly showcasing their support and loyalty via Twitter and viral videos), the 412 is officially on the map. It took a while for another city in Pennsylvania to get recognized, but at least now when a relatively unknown artist from Pittsburgh pops up on the radar, people will acknowledge the guy/gal a little bit more.

Desert Storm Records took things a step further than simple acknowledgment and signed a talented group of emcees known as 1st String (Young Tone, Ray-Al, Mahd, and S.M.P.). We won’t bore you with a bio yet, because reading about these guys without seeing them in action won’t do them any justice; we’d rather them just wow you with their rhyming ability.

Watch these guys do lyrical justice to this first beat, a Crime Mob album cut that never reached its potential because of the weak bars the milk-carton crunk group dropped back in ’07. The second beat is vintage Kanye, before his stardom. The 412 crew also handles that instrumental, as well. Plus, that Pittsburgh accent adds a pretty cool flair to everything they say. Shout out to By Any Means, who shot this crisp, beautifully edited visual for the songs.
