The Other Guys Is The Funniest Movie Of The Year

I have to admit, when I saw the trailer for The Other Guys I was concerned about whether or not Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell would be an efficient comedic duo on the big screen. Ferrell we know about; Wahlberg we don’t. But after checking out the tag team in the comedy, I was equally delighted and impressed at the chemistry between the two actors from vastly different acting backgrounds.

On the surface, “The Other Guys” is just another bumbling cop comedy featuring two polar opposites forced to team up and fight crime. While the core values hold true, this film offers so much more in terms of hilarious one liners (“I’m a peacock, you’ve gotta let me fly!”), colorful characters (Dwayne Johnson, Samuel L. Jackson, Damon Wayans Jr., Michael Keaton and Eva Mendes), chemistry and a plot that isn’t just there to force a movie (watch the final credits for some interesting insight on corporate America). This movie will become a cult classic. Ferrell is known for his laugh-out-loud roles and Wahlberg really nails it in this film. That’s where the fun lies in The Other Guys. When you find out Wahlberg can hold his own, the true gem is found. He delivers his lines in an eyebrow raising “Are you serious?” tone but will turn around and do something completely off the wall with a straight face.

The script will surprise with its sharpness. It’s not a complete goof and holds its own as the main characters navigate stumble through the massive crime.

The Other Guys is for you. It certainly makes up for the bombs that have littered the summer box office.
