Although Mariah Carey was photographed sporting a visible baby bump during a performance in Brazil over the weekend, neither she nor hubby Nick Cannon are ready to speak on whether they’re expecting a bundle of joy. Cannon told listeners of his radio show on Monday:

“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it time and time again, when my wife feels like talking about whatever she wants to talk about, you will hear it directly from her.”

The couple, who celebrated their second wedding anniversary in May, have been dogged by pregnancy rumors pretty much since they exchanged “I dos,” and despite it being blatantly obvious there may finally be something to all the talk, Cannon insists he and his wife will speak on it only when the timing is right:

“That’s something you want to keep near and dear and as close to you as you possibly can, until you’re 100% sure, in any situation. There’s a certain time limit that you’re supposed to wait before you actually can officially say that you are. You’ve got to take all those things into factor and it gets really heightened when you’re one of the most famous people in the world because you don’t want to mislead anybody.”

At Mariah’s age (she’s 40ish), there are all kinds of risk factors associated with pregnancy, so I totally understand where Nick’s coming from with his comments. But judging by the pictures taken of the R&B superstar over the weekend, that’s either a baby in her stomach, or she desperately needs to lay off the Popeye’s and White Castle.
