Carmelo Anthony Likely To Ship Out of Denver

The summer of basketball drama isn’t over yet.

After the most hotly contested free agency in the history of the game took place earlier this year and culminated in an hour-long special, it was widely speculated the formation of a “super team” in Miami would create at least one duplicate attempt in New York. This proposed team centers around Amare Stoudemire, Chris Paul, and Carmelo Anthony.

While that team is still several steps from actually materializing, one thing is for certain: This is Carmelo’s last year wearing a Nuggets jersey. Of course, this was probably the case long before this week, but it was solidified when talks between ‘Melo’s camp and the Nuggets got quite testy.

Basically, the meeting had very little to do with what Denver could do to keep the star, and instead consisted of Leon Rose (of LeBron James fame) pushing for the team to consider where to deal him. He wants a sign-and-trade, not a dramatic free agency and it appears that the Wizards have already put a bid in for the recently-married star.

Despite the above-mentioned speculations about the Knicks, they are not seen as a contender due to their lack of valuable prospects for the Nuggets. Instead, it looks as though the Nets and the Clippers have the biggest chances to make it happen with players Denver can use. Because CP3 and Carmelo supposedly hinted at a future collaboration, Mr. Anthony may have to remain in Denver to keep that dream alive.

If so, the hard-nosed wrangling by his management is making for a very tough swan song in the mile-high city.

LeBron’s jersey may not be the only one burned this year.

r u seriousl why the heck would he want to go to garbage team like the nets cant even win a game last year and the clippers are garbage. you’d think he want to stay on the nuggets or go to rockets to team up with yao

  • Reaction says:

I keep hearing that the knicks are not a factor, and that Denver wants better prospects, if melo is serious about playing in NY, then why not force denvers hand and say, if you trade me to NJ or Washington, I won’t sign the extension and walk after July,…..Denver’s asking price is pretty high for a guy their going to lose anyway,…Melo wants to play in a bigger market, if he ends up on a scrubby team then this would have been all about money….as a knick fan I’ve watched free agents use NY as bait to get deals else where, if carmelo really wants to play in NY, the ball is in his court,…if not, don’t let the knicks think they have a shot and be like lebron and go in another direction…..
