***We Now Interrupt Your Regularly Scheduled Ignorance With Some Food For Thought***

While lots of hip-hop media remains transfixed on the latest ignorant act, esteemed journalist Dream Hampton‘s busy directing the documentary Black August Hip-Hop Project. The film documents the creation and development of the Black August Benefit Concert and the history of Black August.

For those not familiar, The Malcolm X Grassroots Movement launched an annual Hip-Hop Benefit Project back in 1996 to promote global awareness regarding political prisoners and political exiles. The film features historical interviews and concert footage to give a better understanding of the movement.

The film recently screened in NYC and has gotten tremendous feedback. I advise you to feed your brain, check out the trailer below and see the movie when you get a chance.
