Today’s the day Lyfe Jennings drops his new album, I Still Believe (Jesus Swings/Asylum/Warner). In this new video (the second part of my interview with him) he honestly reveals his main reasons for the already critically-acclaimed set being his last.

“I know people are always talking about moving forward; I really went backwards, man,” Lyfe explains about his signature sound, found throughout I Still Believe. “Since this is my last album, I’m giving these people my life.” In addition to explaining his industry departure, Lyfe also touches on the evolution of his music and the importance of his dedicated fanbase.

The 13-track album features the chart-topping hit “Statistics” and contributions from Canadian producer T-Minus (Ludacris, Drake, LeToya Luckett), Brian Michael Cox, Erik Hudson and Troy Taylor. Fellow soul-singer Anthony Hamilton, the album’s only feature, graces the soaring track “Hero.”

This man is highly underrated!! I have listened to him from his first release, Lyfe 268-192 (2003), and knew that he was worthy of the spotlight. What I didn’t know what that he served time in prison for arson!? Yes, arson…check it out (http://bit.ly/a3y1dH).

Regardless, his new album is great and I will continue to be a fan for Lyfe!
