Usher Opens Up About Split With Tameka Foster
Usher is opening up about his divorce from Tameka Foster, who the R&B superstar married in 2007 and had two sons with before filing for divorce last summer. Of the relationship, Usher told People magazine:
“I appreciate the relationship for what it was. Even though it didn’t work out, I’m glad we got together. I love her as the mother of my children; we just couldn’t be married.”
I’m sure if you ask Ms. Patton (Usher’s mom), she’d say the duo shouldn’t have been married to begin with. If you can recall, the relationship between Usher and Foster led to discord between the “OMG” singer and his mom, which culminated in Patton’s firing as her son’s manager. SMH, all that drama and the marriage didn’t even make it a full two-years.
On what led to the demise of the union, Usher revealed he and Foster began arguing about everything, including parenting styles, after the birth of their second son, Naviyd:
“We’re two different people and we have two different goals. It just was never going to work out 100 percent.”
You can bet the farm none of Foster’s goals involved Grace Miguel, the Def Jam employee Usher was photographed with not too long before he filed for divorce. Despite having one failed marriage under his belt, the R&B heartthrob is still a fan of love, and doesn’t rule out another walk down the aisle:
“I still believe in love. I believe in marriage. When I fall in love again, everyone will know. I’ll sing about it.”
I’m so happy he isn’t jaded by his last experience with love and marriage, but I’m going to need him to do us all a favor and spare us the next go round.
