Did You Notice Lil Wayne’s Been Gone?
It’s hard to believe that Lil Wayne has been incarcerated since March of this year. Even more difficult to believe that Weezy F. Baby will be back on the scene this coming November. Wait, you didn’t notice he was gone either? Wayne has made it a point to remain in the public eye one way or another.
Since his eight-month jail term began back in March, Wayne has been seen and heard as if he was walking around a free man. Appearances in videos, on songs and numerous mentions in the media has made time virtually fly by. Rappers who aren’t in jail don’t have as much of a presence as Wayne. As if his numerous appearances weren’t enough, people such as Kanye West, Nicki Minaj and Drake have all kept his name alive by speaking of their visits with him while in the clink. Even Brett Favre has reportedly been “praying” for Wayne during his jail stint. When a country boy like Brett Favre prays for you, things are certainly on the up and up.
It’s evident that Weezy is a missed man. Which makes you wonder: If he is making this much noise while behind bars, what happens when he’s gets his freedom back? With Drake and Nicki Minaj holding down the Young Money fort—while becoming huge stars in their own right—Wayne has a nice cushion to land on once he walks out of the jail cell. It’s hard to believe his popularity has taken a hit since being locked up, and it’s safe to assume his presence will be felt when he can hit shows like The View and late night talk shows again. You thought T.I. was everywhere, you haven’t seen anything yet.
When Wayne touches down in November, it will be like he never left.
