Is All Forgiven Because Michael Vick Plays Well?
Look what a few good games can do.
Michael Vick was once one of the most hated athletes on the planet. But after paying his debt to society stemming from his involvement in an illegal interstate dog fighting ring, Vick has seemingly passed his test on the field with flying colors. In 2 1/2 games, Vick has stuffed the stat sheet like a Pro Bowl quarterback. He’s thrown for 750 yards and six touchdowns with no interceptions with a 2-0 record as a starting quarterback. He’s also shown he’s still incredibly agile by rushing for 170 yards and a touchdown. He’s made everyone in Philadelphia happy while making most of the world forget he was even incarcerated. And that shows exactly how shallow so many Americans are.
It is truly amazing how people can forgive and forget simply because Michael Vick performs well on the field. It’s unfair to Vick to know that if he plays well, all is forgotten because once Vick has a bad game, people will mock him as they did before his brilliant play. For those who were indifferent during the dog fighting fiasco or have always been supportive of the former Falcons QB, this isn’t for you. But if you were one of those individuals who trashed Michael Vick and now find yourself praising him for his “comeback,” you must be called out.
Vick’s comeback, thus far, is like a Hollywood movie. After being out of the league and in a jail cell without true on-field NFL practice, Vick has taken a golden opportunity and shown the world he can still be an elite quarterback in the NFL. One would think that his time away from the game would have hurt his ability. So far, Vick looks as sharp as ever. He’s adjusted to the speed of the game and somehow managed to improve as a quarterback while maintaining his running ability as if he never left the game.
However, if you hated Vick for the dog fighting, you should still hate him now. Just because he plays well shouldn’t let him off the hook if you condemned him. But fair-weather fans are holding Vick jersey’s up like Simba’s birth in The Lion King. Don’t insult the man’s intelligence. He knows he was hated before and is probably aware a few bad NFL games will have those very fans turn on him.
It’s shallow and lame to think that an athlete can have his past forgotten with a few touchdown passes. But apparently that’s who we are as fans.

Hate is a strong word however We(Blacks) be hated upon since the beginning. Once we make a mistake and pay for it and repent it will be never be enough because of the color of our skin!
This is a stupid article. Michael Vick has paid for his poor decision making. If he never made it back on the field you would call for us to be decent human beings and forgive him. But he has found success and that threatens you. Grow up. everyone deserves another chance. Its good to see someone can do something positive after being so stupid in the past. He should be supported by us. And yes, Hes killing it for philly. And yes, we love it.
Hate is a strong word but polls show that Vick was actually hated and still is by a few. I for one am not a major Vick fan, just cause he doesnt play for my team, but I dont think he punishment fit the crime. People do way less time and loss way less money, for way more violent and harmful crimes. I’m not a Philly fan but I’m glad to see Vick do his thing. The world will always build you up before they tear you down. Stay humble and keep your head straight and remember your only a human being like everyone else is the best thing to do. I hate to imagine what he could have done if he never went to jail. Atlanta with Tony G, Roddy White, M Turner, J Norwood, and Mike Vick… Scary thought since Im a Panther Fan. Vick wanted to be a Carolina Panther too, but our teams ignorance couldnt accept the fact that he did wrong and paid his debt to society. Now I bet they wish we did have Vick.
bl, why are you knocking the blog, the article just points out how two-faced people can be, and how wrong they are to be on his jock now after bashing him before.
dr.jays hates black people
Personally, I was never THAT angry with Vick. Moreso, Dr. Jays has just now realized how hypocritical the world is. A few weeks after Vick was convicted, there were a couple of homicides, and these individuals didn’t nearly do as much time as Vick did. I’m glad to see him back out doing his thing, and all the false friends and wolves in sheep’s clothing will get theirs.
Vick deserves the MVP about as much as Obama deserved the Nobel Peace Prize. Vick is a vile individual and anyone forgiving him because he is now playing well is a jackass. And, you blacks claiming people hate him because he’s black are fools. If Tom Brady tortured animals, I’d hate him, too. All Vick has done is play well. That has nothing to do with him earning redemption. I hope someone lays a really good hit on him and injures him enough to end his career. I hate Michael Vick.
