Birdman Buying The Miami Dolphins; Missed Out On Signing Jeezy, Keyshia Cole and T.I.?
Cash Money Records CEO Birdman is known for having big money and spending big money so it’s no surprise he’s looking to purchase a team in the NFL. In a recent interview on Angela Yee‘s radio show, when asked if he’s looking to buy the Miami Dolphins, the #1 Stunna revealed he is in fact looking to conduct business with the NFL franchise and his next potential moneymaking moves will be involving sports.
“I sure was, I’m still waiting on that letter….We want to be part owners of the Miami Dolphins and I’m looking forward to that. I mean really a few teams, some basketball teams, some baseball teams. Anything that’s available we want to be a part of it. I think that’s big. That’s the next step for us, that’s the next level. The Miami Dolphins would be great because we’re out there.”
When asked if it looks like it’s going to work out, Birdman said, “It’s in [the] works. You have to get clearance from the NFL. We’re waiting on the clearance, so once we get cleared we’re good.”
Birdman also spoke on artists he passed on signing to his Cash Money label, including Young Jeezy, Keyshia Cole and T.I.
“I had a chance for Keyshia Cole, I had a chance for Jeezy, T.I. T.I. used to be in the studio with us writing everyday. I used to let him come to the studio and just chill with us, when he was out there in Atlanta, when we used to go out there and record.”
Now, I’m sure if Birdman had made deals happen with Jeezy and T.I., it would’ve been a good look for the label and the artists. The records T.I. and Lil Wayne made in the past have been nothing but hits and Jeezy seems to gel well with Birdman; with Birdman’s close ties to Miami rapper Rick Ross, they can all represent for BMF together instead of feuding. (Who can forget the drama that went down between Ross and Jeezy earlier this year.) However, I think Birdman should stick to signing hip-hop acts—he once signed singers Teena Marie and Lil’ Mo to the CM clique and we see how that turned out. Keyshia would have lived on the shelf had she signed that contract. Either way, it’s good Birdman’s looking to grow his money and keep his hustle going. Only time will tell if the NFL deal takes place. Perhaps he’ll get a dolphin tattoo on his head once things are a go. Take a look at the interview with Angela Yee below:
