New York Comic Con 2010
Comic Con is home to a lot of nerds, geeks and super freaks. So we checked out the fifth annual NYCC this past weekend at the Jacob K. Javitz Center. The culture is far from new and could easily be misunderstood by
Comic books and video games go hand-in-hand so I wasn’t surprised to see that Ubisoft, Activision, Xbox Kinect, Wii and Intel made a huge gaming appearance featuring current and upcoming games. They had lan party stations scattered around the venue where guests had the chance to demo Marvel vs. Capcom 3, which will be released Spring of 2011. Other featured games include StarCraft II, Halo: Reach, Guitar Hero, Counter Strike, Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare and Need For Speed to name a few. The strange thing is, I don’t recall seeing PlayStation at all, especially considering they’re now out with their new PS Move.
Overall, there was a ton of creative talent and passion brewed into this event but it can greatly be improved. San Diego Comic Con needs to show New York how it’s done—and it is evident in the costumes alone. It was a sad case of lame store-bought Halloween costumes and homemade accessories. Cosplay ran the scene, of course. There was only one female who stood out and she was Darth Talon along with her Obi Wan Kenobi. Best costume overall had to be the Predators.
