FlüD Watches Debuts Roc Raida Tribute Timepiece
Paying homage to the late Grand Master Roc Raida, FLüD Watches has launched the Tableturn Roc Raida limited edition watch. This version of the classic Tableturn holds significant meaning for FLüD founder Doug Cohen, as DJ/turntablist/producer Roc Raida was a longtime supporter of Cohen’s career even before FLüD launched.
“Creating this watch was an honor,” Cohen says. “Without Roc Raida, there would be no FluD. R.I.P. to an all-time great.”
Previous to FLüD, Cohen was known for throwing his signature “Tableturns” event, as well as promoting various other well-known turntablist events. When Cohen came up with the concept for FLüD, the Tableturn became the brand’s first style. Three years later, the Tableturn is still one of FLüD’s most popular watches, one that holds a strong connection to Cohen’s past.
A beloved member of trailblazing DJ crew The X-Ecutioners, Raida—born Anthony Williams—died on September 19, 2009 from cardiac arrest due to complications a few weeks earlier relating to a mixed-martial-arts accident.
All proceeds from the sale of the Roc Raida tribute watch support the late DJ’s wife and three children. The watch retails for $90.00 and can be purchased only by e-mailing the FLüD team at: [email protected].
Newly formed company Rec Rm has also released a super limited edition line of Roc Raida tribute tees (pictured below). To order a tee, call 917-727-4855.
