NEWS FLASH: A bunch of newly-rich twentysomethings are really into the artists dominating the Billboard charts/Hot 97 playlist. With the NBA season tipping off this week, Dime Magazine thought it would be interesting to see who America’s Next Top Millionaires (aka the NBA’s most recent draftees) have in their iPods right now, and here are the results.

We’ll focus on the lottery picks (a.k.a. the guys who’ll be getting any kind of decent court time during the season) for starters. Drake was clearly the most popular, followed by Jay-Z, then Eminem and Lil Wayne, with Gucci Mane and Rick Ross getting support, as well. In terms of non-hip-hop acts, well, Patrick Patterson of the Houston Rockets mentioned Trey Songz, and Cole Aldrich of the Oklahoma City Thunder said he listens to “everything,” but only mentioned John Mayer. (His hood pass is revoked right? Mayer that is, not Aldrich.)

John Wall (Washington Wizards): Wale, Drake, Lil Wayne
Evan Turner
(Philadelphia 76ers): Drake, Jay-Z, Eminem, Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West
Derrick Favors
(New Jersey Nets): Gucci Mane, Young Jeezy (“Atlanta music”)
Wesley Johnson
(Minnesota Timberwolves): Drake, J.Cole, T.I.Rick Ross, Kanye West
DeMarcus Cousins
(Sacramento Kings): Travis Porter, Roscoe Dash, Gucci Mane, Yo Gotti
Ekpe Udoh
(Golden State Warriors): Rick Ross, J.Cole, Drake, Jay-Z
Greg Monroe
(Detroit Pistons): Wale, Wiz Khalfia, Lil Wayne
Al-Farouq Aminu
(LA Clippers): Young Jeezy
Gordon Hayward
(Utah Jazz): Eminem, Drake
Paul George
(Indiana Pacers): Lil Wayne, Drake, Gucci Mane, Eminem, Jay-Z
Cole Aldrich
(Oklahoma City Thunder): John Mayer (“A little bit of everything”)
Xavier Henry
(Memphis Grizzlies): Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Drake (“Whatever my brother puts on my iPod”)
Ed Davis
(Toronto Raptors): Jay-Z
Patrick Patterson
(Houston Rockets): Drake, Rick Ross, Trey Songz, Eminem

The rest of the draft class predominantly followed the lead of the lottery picks, but here’s a few replies that were outside the box:

Luke Babbitt (Portland Trail Blazers): Has no iPod (and doesn’t really listen to music)
Craig Brackins
(New Orleans Hornets): Reps Pac Div (pictured above) hard
Trevor Booker
(Washington Wizards): Mainly slow jams
Greivis Vasquez
(Memphis Grizzlies): Reggaeton and Spanish music
Daniel Orton
(Orlando Magic): Luther Vandross, Motown
Luke Harangody
(Boston Celtics): Red Hot Chili Peppers
Jeremy Lin
(Golden State Warriors): Christian music (rock on with your bad self, Jeremy)
