Did Kevin Garnett Go Too Far This Time?
Tuesday night, the Boston Celtics beat up on the Eastern Conference cellar-dwelling Detroit Pistons. This is not news. The Celtics’ Kevin Garnett was the game’s high scorer with 22 points. Also, not news. KG was toasted by Kanye West during the game (douchebag, get it?)—again, not newsworthy. However, did Garnett go too far with his on-court trash talking this time?
Shortly after the game was finished, Pistons forward Charlie Villanueva jumped on Twitter (Charlie V is something on a NBA Twitter pioneer; he was told off by his team for tweeting at halftime two seasons ago) and tweeted this:
Initially, it sounded like sour grapes. Plus, we know that KG can get under the skin of his opponents. But then a few minutes later…
For the record, Villanueva has alopecia universalis, a skin disease which results in losing all of the hair on your body (even eyelashes).
Did KG overstep the mark? And if he did, what should the punishment (if any) be from the NBA? Or if you want to look at it from the another perspective, did Charlie V break the code of “what happens on the court, stays on the court”?
