EXCLUSIVE: DJ Premier, Just Blaze, Whoo Kid: “Salute The DJ” Photo Shoot
They’re the people who get you hyped in a club, keep you entertained through the radio and provide the backbone for MCs. This week was our chance to “Salute the DJ”, and we did it right!
From legends like DJ Premier to emerging talent like Jasmine Solano, DrJays.com pooled together some of the most prominent men and women in the game and decked them out in fresh holiday 2010 gear for a massive photo shoot.

Our trusty brands like Two In The Shirt (TITS), Famous Stars & Straps, adidas and many more came through to help me outfit the 26 DJs involved.
The 12-hour day began with hauling racks of clothing through the streets and setting up food and drinks (thanks to Smirnoff, Nuvo and Hennessey). G-Money was on the ones and twos all day, while Boss Lady hosted the event and conducted one-on-one interviews with the help of our videographer, Andrew Fennell. Myself and stylist Kesha McLeod put together two looks for each individual, after which we sent them off to photographer Jenny Wu. Carla Shackleford helped with all of the logistics and held down the fort, keeping the DJs well fed and organized.
Once again, Rodnei Ferby (Hair by Rodnei for TRESemmé) was our hairstylist, with the help of his assistant Chris Guevera, while D.Nicole was our makeup artist for the day. (Thanks to Carol’s Daughter for the products!) We could not have pulled off a shoot of this magnitude without the help of the DrJays.com staff: Anthony Reynolds, Alana Hewitt, Keesean Moore, Leah Charles, Rachel and Michael Webster. A special shout out to Dee the Jeweler for coming through and supplying some serious bling, plus Kathryn Fortunato from Lizzie Fortunato Jewels for the ladies’ accessories.
