Classless: Antonio Margarito Mocks Freddie Roach’s Parkinson’s Disease
Want to really piss off your opponent before a big fight? If you’re Antonio Margarito and looking to get under the skin of Manny Pacquiao prior to what may be the biggest fight of your career on November 13th, then there may be no better way than to diss his close friend and trainer Freddie Roach.
But Roach has been suffering from Parkinson’s disease for many years now, yet is still able to train arguably the best boxer in the world today. Roach’s disorder is apparently a laughing matter for Margarito, who was caught on camera making fun of the popular trainer.
Call it what you want, but it’s absolutely tasteless to mock a man suffering from a life-threatening disease. Not to mention Manny Pacquiao is quite possibly the nicest person on the planet before he decides he wants to kick your ass. Even if the game is mental, Margarito has to know he’s walking into a buzz saw on Saturday night. If the buzz saw is pissed off, he’ll be in a world of hurt.
Margarito and Rios are low-life scums. I thought they are ready to repent but apparently it’s all show. Looks like there’s no ounce of remorse in Margarito. Margarito’s early fights didn’t show him with a punching power (but staying power to win late rounds). Then suddenly, he’s knocking out people devastatingly. Cintron with a body shot. Cotto was bleeding from deep wounds, you have to ask how can someone with gloves make those wounds. Holloway who used to spar with Margarito got a broken eyeball socket during sparring!?
To make matters worse, Margarito used his trainer Capetillo as a scapegoat rather than admitting guilt.
Now, Margarito just sunk lower by this mockery of people with Parkinson’s.

I’m glad Roach got his vindication from Margarito’s loss for what was made a mockery of his debilitating disease. Like others have already said, it doesn’t look like Margarito has shown any ounce of remorse at all by all that has happened, adding with this deplorable antic he’s pulled along with the encouragement of his trainer and a no-name nobody like Rios who decided to ride on free air time.
I first felt bad for Margarito for getting his orbital socket cracked and punched in after the fight but after watching the video of him and his camp mock Roach’s Parkinson’s, I’m glad he got his just desserts. I’m glad he was broken as badly as he looked. I hope, for his sake, taking a beating like that won’t send him the same path as catching the same illness as Roach has. That would be rather ironic.
True, things get said in the heat of hyping up a fight. But, there are just certain sacred lines you don’t cross. You don’t talk about an opponent’s family, kids, any illness that’s being dealt with, that’s just low and shows no class at all.
