When musicians get endorsement deals with big corporations, it’s always a good business move. It’s even more of a big deal when a hip-hop artist gets an endorsement deal, as the perception of rappers usually isn’t a good one. A few of the major rapper-corporation deals struck in the past include Busta Rhymes, Wyclef and Missy Elliott working with Pepsi, Redman and Method Man getting backed by Right Guard deodorant and Ludacris partnering up with TAG Body Spray.
Artists are usually able to keep their partnership strong with the products they’re endorsing, but there have been instances where a bad situation takes place, the musician does something that jeopardizes the deal and they then get dropped from the company. You’re probably asking yourself, who would ruin such a good opportunity and why? Well, below are five artists who didn’t quite think things through and ended up losing out on some side hustle cash.
