Nicki Minaj Bosses Up In My Time Now
On MTV’s My Time Now documentary, Nicki Minaj expresses her frustration with the double standard that exists for women and their attitudes. In this clip from the show, airing Sunday at 10pm, the femcee vents after a checking in to an inefficient photo shoot, where they apparently offered her a cool glass of pickle juice. Well, Barbie was not having it.
“When I am assertive, I’m a bitch. When a man is assertive, he’s a boss. He bossed up,” she says. “No negative connotation behind ‘bossed up.’ But lots of negative connotation behind being a bitch.”
It’s a tad difficult to take Nicki seriously when she has that cotton candy Judy Jetson wig on, but her statement is quite valid. Tough women are often harshly labeled when they get demanding or forceful, but great business folk usually need to light a fire under someone’s behind every now and then. This is true but its the way it always has been and its the way it always will be, we will never change.
This is the way we are wired as a species. For millions of years that Humans and their descendants walked the earth, women didn’t hold roles of leadership, and there has never been a historically memorable woman leader besides maybe Joan of Arc, but that was driven by religious fanaticism.
Women are not meant to be assertive its not how their minds work. Men aren’t meant to respect leadership from a woman, thats not how their minds work either. That is why almost ANY time a woman comes off as assertive or bossy she ends up looking whiney and bitchy. Because no one, not even women, think of other women as powerful leaders.
This chix is a idiot..how is she a artist when she doesn’t write her own music..str8 gimic..chix can have power and be humble..look at opra..she is one of the bigest names out there..and she is not doing it by being a b*tch..she is out there giving away gifts to her guest..she isn’t crying about her dumb cloths budget..who cares..I care about the music and she isn’t even that good at that..nikki isn’t a boss,she isn’t signing any checks..what the hell is she even talking about?

I love Nicki Minaj and her get-up, personality, image, the whole package. But even I can realize that, while she delivers them amazingly, her lyrics are “so, so”. Not something one would pay another to come up with for them… Not some one would NEED to pay another to come up with for them.
I respect her comment. That’s very valid. I think what she said comes from society and how everyone views a woman. Men play around but they do recognize a real woman and respects her after she has proven that just like any other male. It’s if that female or not has the mentality to demand that respect. And as far as her lyrics well that’s another story…

I understand and agree, but a lot of women do not understand the difference between being assertive, strong and being a bitch. Its a difference. So this has a lot of bitches claiming that they are only being assertive.
