Nicki Minaj Introduces Onika In MTV’s My Time Now
Last night MTV aired My Time Now, a special they filmed showcasing the life of Young Money superstar Nicki Minaj. The hour-long program gives viewers a look into the life of Onika Maraj aka Nicki Minaj, and shows the true woman behind the brightly colored wigs and crazy animated facial expressions.
Cameras follow Nicki as she returns to her homeland, Trinidad, to reunite with her family and perform for the island. It also shows Nicki recording tracks for her debut album, Pink Friday, and filming the video for her single, “Right Thru Me.” While the special shined a light on the performer she is, it also showed a more vulnerable and emotional side of Nicki, as she discussed various personal topics, including her upbringing in Trinidad and Jamaica, Queens, her late grandmother, and her five-year plan. Although My Time Now does have some somber moments, it shows one of the most proudest moments of Nicki’s life: buying her mother a brand new house.
