Can Halle Berry Win Another Oscar For “Frankie And Alice?”

Let’s get this out of the way: I did not think Halle Berry deserved the Oscar for Monster’s Ball, nor do I consider her an elite actress. However, Berry’s role in the upcoming Frankie And Alice could perhaps be her most impressive role in a major motion picture yet. The film is about a young multicultural woman who suffers from dissociative identity disorder and has to struggle with her racist alter-ego. Berry’s performance was heralded when the film was screened at the Cannes Film Festival so there is a ton of potential here.

I have to agree, however I will say that when Ms. Berry is playing less than beautiful characters her performance is much more believable. Hence the crack head in jungle fever.

That’s the formula, beautiful actress plays less than beautiful and complex role and she wins an Oscar. It looks like a good movie. I think she does these roles because no one takes her seriously otherwise. Showing that your more than a beautiful face makes Hollywood take notice.

I agree that Halle’s character of a less beautiful person is more productive. I see more of her acting abilities in movies like Frankie, and Jungle Fever. I just love Halle!
