Scarlett Johansson Set To Play Sexy Alien In Under The Skin

Silver screen beauty Scarlett Johansson has landed a new role that can only be described as out of this world. The film, entitled Under The Skin, will feature Johansson as a ruthless alien who takes on the shape of a human being and uses the art of seduction to prey upon unsuspecting (and ‘well-proportioned’, whatever that means) men.

The upcoming sci-fi flick is based on the debut novel of the same name by author Michael Faber. In the book, what seems to be a predictable and mainly sexual storyline delves into the truly bizarre and unexpected. Johansson’s character, Isserley, happens to work for a larger alien organization which has very peculiar uses for the humans acquired.

Director Jonathan Glazer, who also directed the British film Sexy Beast, faces the task of getting across the allegorical nature of the book, which may prove quite a feat with Johansson as the leading lady. Glazer must also utilize the author’s style, in which he gradually and sparingly gives details, leading to an absolutely stunning reveal. However, given the fact the book is more psychological thriller than typical science fiction, it may enable her to lend complexity to the character.

As international films continue to gain traction in the domestic market, the film may turn out to be a big hit for the director and its star, but only if it avoids the traps so many books-turned-films fall into. Either way, we would suggest keeping an eye out for this film when it drops some time next year.
