Shaq Conducts The Boston Pops Orchestra?
He’s a giant by many names. The Big Aristotle. Shaq-Fu. Kazaam. The Diesel. Now, he’s adding one more to the list: The Big Maestro. Earlier this week, Shaquille O’Neal was given the dubious honor of conducting the Boston Pops orchestra.
After a nice introduction, Boston’s newest Celtic took the stage and led the orchestra in three songs: “Sleigh Ride,” Michael Jackson‘s “Can You Feel It,” and “We Are The Champions,” which I’m sure he and Celtic fans everywhere hope foreshadows what is shaping up to be a really good season for the ball club.
The big man reportedly has a new found respect for conductors, as his arms were sore following rehearsals for the event—which was caught on video.
It’s good to see the people of Boston respond warmly to Shaq, who is 7 feet and 300 + pounds of pure entertainment—both on and off the court.
