Talib Kweli Gets Into Physical Altercation With Wife
I’m about to do something I thought I would never do as a gossip blogger…gossip about Talib Kweli!! Apparently, the socially conscious hip-hop star got into a knock-down, drag-out fight with his wife, DJ and producer DJ Eque, when she spotted him getting a little too friendly with other women during the after-party for a recent listening session for his latest recording effort. According to Page Six:
“Our source said, ‘Kweli made a joke thanking the sponsor, Hennessy, for paying for his wedding in 2009, saying otherwise he wouldn’t have got married. The party later carried on in a private room [at West 14th Street bar Snap]. When his wife saw him chatting and being friendly with other women, she flew off the handle. She went at him and they were almost wrestling before they fell back on a table, smashing some glasses. Security then asked them to leave, and they carried on the argument outside as they got into their car.’”
Pardon me Talib, but if I were wifey, I would’ve jumped on you when you made that smart-ass comment about how you wouldn’t have gotten married! That was wrong on so many levels. Anyway, the “Get By” rapper and Eque were married in May 2009 after a two-year courtship in front of a crowd that included D. Woods, Queen Latifah, and ?uestlove. Hey, since Hennessy paid for the wedding, I wonder if they’ll chip in for the divorce?
