Who Is The Favorite To Win The Super Bowl?
This season, it’s been difficult to figure out who has the top spot on lock. Every week another team emerges while the team we thought was a powerhouse has a minor setback that puts it down a few notches. With one week left in the NFL season, it’s still up in the air, but there’s one team who appears to be heading into the playoffs with the most momentum: the New England Patriots.
They’ve reeled off seven consecutive victories without Randy Moss as Tom Brady and his band of rogue misfits terrorize defenses across the league. But their Achilles heel is their wretched defense which ranks 27th in the NFL. Everyone knows that defense wins championships. But if you are leading the NFL in points scored (480, 54pts more than second place Philadelphia), you’ve pretty much figured your offense is your best defense. While the Atlanta Falcons seem to have the #2 spot on lockdown, their underwhelming performance at home against the New Orleans Saints only proved to many what they thought all along: The Falcons aren’t that good.
The Colts aren’t the same machine they used to be, nobody believes the Bears are for real and no other team on top of their division (aside from the Colts) have a longer than three winning streak. The momentum is clearly in the Patriots’ favor. Let Aaron Rodgers keep performing like he did this past Sunday or let the New Orleans Saints offense get healthy and chugging like the machine they were last year and we’ll see if the Patriots can whether storm. Don’t be too surprised if an NFC West team gets past the first round. Okay, scratch that. The NFC West is horrible. But aside from the weak division, any of these teams could plow into the playoffs and knock off a top seed.
But as of right now? Nobody is beating the Patriots.
Nobody.
