Chanel, Gucci & More Show Us What’s Hot For Fall 2011
If you’re looking for a head start on fall 2011 trends, check out highlights from Chanel, Gucci, Balenciaga and more during their pre-fall fashion shows.
From what I’ve seen so far, these current trends have staying power: thigh-high boots, platform shoes, ski-inspired Nordic knits, boxy jackets, colorful tights and knee-high socks. Skinny pants will share the stage with flare and wide-leg bottoms.
“This season I built the collection around the contrast between a contemporary urban feel and the glamorous days of the international jet-set in the late Sixties and early Seventies,” said designer Frida Giannini of her pre-fall collection for Gucci. Missoni also looked to the vibrant 60s, while Chanel “gazed back 16 centuries to Byzantine times and concocted a transporting collection based on muted color, rich ornamentation and regal-yet-forgiving silhouettes.”
In terms of colors, check out the prediction from Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute and the head of the Eiseman Center for Color Information and Training:
