After attending the Capsule, Agenda and Project trade shows this week in NYC, I noticed one common theme among brands and even the shows: The good old lumberjack look is still on fire.

Looks like this fall’s man will be well equipped to explore the wilderness in luxurious flannels, distressed premium denim, fur-lined shoes along with heavy fleeces and knits.

Military influences were seen throughout the shows as well, but not in the sharp and edgy ways of past seasons. These looks are authentic American Heritage, both vintage and rugged.

American workwear, from canvas utilitarian jackets to beefy suede and leather work boots are here to stay. When it comes to prominent colors, I saw mostly moody shades of gray, burgundy, green, brown, navy and burnt orange, along with camoflage and tribal prints.

Although I’m personally quite content with the direction menswear seems to keep going, I must point out many of the brands are hard to differentiate from each other. Only a few brands stood out for their unique prints, cuts or splashes of bold colors.
