Steve Harvey: “The Truth’s Gonna Come Out”
“My father always taught me, he’d say, ‘Son, there’s three sides to every story—there’s their side, your side and the truth,’” comedian/author Steve Harvey said on his radio show yesterday in response to ex-wife Mary L. Harvey‘s highly publicized current tirade against him. “I know the truth. My son is coming into the room crying. And that’s what hurts me. Why you would do this? I don’t even understand the purpose. I mean, I got you’re mad, but [she's talking about] 12 years ago. That’s what we’re doin’ now?”
In her recent three-part video series, Mary accuses ex-husband Steve, 54, of being unfaithful throughout their marriage, shows actual letters from other women confessing affairs with her husband, talks about how she’s being sued by Harvey for apparently being the reason he didn’t get a show on Oprah‘s new OWN network and accuses him of taking their son away from her when the marriage ended.
Steve and Mary were married in 1996 and divorced in 2005. Their son Wynton was born in 1997.
“The truth’s gonna come out,” Harvey said yesterday. “Because once you go public, you allow people to start asking questions. I’m just more concerned about my son, who I happen to have total custody of. He doesn’t deserve the questions.
“I’ve been famous a long time,” he added. “I’ve dealt with this all before. But things will be dealt with in the proper fashion this time.”
Harvey’s attorney has said they plan to go after Mary “to rectify this matter to the full extent of the law,” calling her remarks and alleged revelations “false, misleading, derogatory,” etc.

After watching the videos, what’s apparent is Mary Harvey was taken advantage of when she was emotionally crippled. That takes a very SPECIAL kind of narcissist. He kicked her in the gut and stepped on her back on his way out. What’s also striking is she doesn’t mention turning to friends or family when she was at her lowest. Ladies! We must always keep GOD and our girls close!

I am appauled and disgusted by Steve Harvey. I had no idea thats how things went down. I thought he was married to same woman he has always been with. little did i know he traded his wife for a no class gold digging bimbo.

Oh paaalease Steve Harvey, dont pretend to care about your son. If your son was really your priority you would not have been dogging his mother and eventually throughing her out like a used rag leaving her with nothing. Steve Harvey’s ex wife needs to move on. They are divorced, if it’s money she wants, then do it with class. It’s a little odd that she is coming out now to claim fame. Please Mrs. Ex-Harvey stop it, for your son’s sake. Set an example to us black women, show some class.
Mary has a similar story as many jilted females. However, Mary needs to get over “whatever” happened. Evidently, she received enough money from Steve “originally” to shut her up for this long! Money is probably gone and now she feels is as good a time as any to get something else started. Now she seems to know how to “work-it”, because she’s got a few people that will always want to hear the most negative information about any celebrities! I say, “Put your big girl panties on, stop making Wynton’s life a pure hell and stop being so immature and selfish. You should have worked it when you had it! I love Steve Harvey, but I didnt even know he had been married three times, therefore he has NO BUSINESS GIVING ANYONE RELATIONSHIP ADVISE. It just doesn’t make sense. Like he said there are three sides to the story and between his story and his ex-wife’s, lies the truth.
This is sad. No matter what happened…. it happened 12 years ago! Steve has spoken openly about his past failed marriages which is why he began to write his books to help others out of his mistakes. The blessing that comes out of going through trials and making mistakes is the fact that you have the opportunity to help someone out of what you learned from it. The sad part about this is that I see so many so called Christians bad mouthing him and judging the situation which God clearly tells us not to do. I’m really not surprised at why no one really wants to serve God because of all the bootleg, judgmental, and hostile examples that they see. Learn from the God you all claim you serve and pray for this man and this woman and let God do the rest.

i have been reading this junk all day and all i got to say is we all are getting off the topic as far as the break-up was 12 years ago at least. it sounds like she fell for a man that was not ready to committ and that is the females fault for not putting her own expectations on this guy but rahter she listened to her friends and the junk coming out of his mouth.at some point she probably tried to get the relationship back but it was to late because most ment don’t retreat they just think they are winning so they go on and he did right into a marraige.i am not going to say he was not wrong for how he treated the wife but he was dead wrong for that and GOD deals with that not us.the book is titled think like a man but act like a lady not that you should think like a man but know what the guy is thinking come on people we all need to get that part. i have taught the same philosophy for years but have no way of putting it in a book. i teach during that getting to know statge you got to ask the right questions and stop letting men get away with the bull crap they call answers. there are alot of things i could say right now but come on lets stay on course this is a family issue first and you all out here calling this man these names is not warranted.mary should have not let steve harvey court her the way he did it sounds like he said what he wanted and she went for it hook line and sinker.that is exactly what he teaches women not to do now.i know this is long but i hope someone is man or women enought to respond to me through my e-mail. The first thing out of Steve’s mouth was “my father always told me…” Well, I am more than sure your father told you to respect the mother of your child at all times. If Steve passes away unexpectantly before the minor child is grown, the child will have to return to his mother; therefore, both parents need to be in that child’s life. So, please, both parents, get it together.
Second, the hypocrisy continues with Dr. Phil congratulating you on your books, but not chastising you for your part in your publicly failed marriage. Stop writing books on relationships…you have had at least three…so, you are no expert. You should have given your wife tips on how to save your marriage, not make her feel worthless for staying with you for 16 years. Take it from me, I have been married 23 years and my husband and I have had many years to understand loyalty is not blood-related, it’s heart-related. If you ever cared for your ex-wife, Steve, you would have found a way to end this amicably.
People do your homework. When you meet a new friend, ask him or her “What are the three most important things in your life?” That answer can be one way to decide who this person is. If you get the right answer, then look, listen and analyze their behavior. Don’t give your heart until you know who you’re dealing with. I promise in time…..yes six months to a year…..you will know if you want to commit to this person. Keep your heart until you are positive. Do your homework!
What ever the truth may be, Steve should never kick a person when their down. If he mistreated his son’s mother, he will have to pay.

Ok I really cant believe all this mess made news. Steve isn’t my favorite comedian but either way I dont think any of this is relevant. If this mess happened 12 years ago you should have said something 12years ago or shut your mouth and stop trying to cash out after this man has come out with all these books, magazine articles, and movies. And for all of you talking crap about how he treated his wife. You dont know what went on in those peoples home and if she stayed then she was willing to accept whatever happened at that time. If she is such a victimized person she should go to therapy and work through her issues rather than put damaging information out there that affects their son too. Steve live your life Mary live yours and keep your business out of the media! And I dont care what you all have to say if that man has custody of their son then he must be doing something right.
