Jessie J Teams Up With B.o.B For Debut Single “Price Tag”
If you’re not familiar with Jessie J just yet, you will be very soon. Already a star in her native U.K. and about to explode in the U.S., she’s a Londoner with real songwriting and vocal talent, refreshingly sassy appeal, a great look and an attitude to match.
Jessie (born with the very British-sounding name Jessica Ellen Cornish) got her start writing massive hits like Miley Cyrus‘s “Party In The USA” and Chris Brown’s “I Need This.” She won the 2011 BBC of Sound poll and Brits Critics Choice Award and her first single (known as a “set up track”) “Do It Like A Dude” has reached a staggering 12 millon plus views on YouTube.
Her official debut here in the U.S., “Price Tag”—an ode to making the “world dance” and taking hip-hop back to its essence—was the number one most added song at pop radio last week. The catchy tune’s fun video, which features B.o.B, already has over half a million YouTube views:
Jessie J’s debut album, Who You Are, is set for an April 12 release via Lava Records/Universal Republic.
In the meantime, check out Jessie’s vibrant, stripped-down performance in the Times Square subway station for GiantStep’s Boombox Series on a recent trip to New York:
