The Remix: Christina Aguilera Screws Up “The Star-Spangled Banner” Lyrics At Super Bowl 2011

No, your ears are not deceiving you. Christina Aguilera just made up her own version of the “Star-Spangled Banner” at the 2011 Super Bowl XLV in Arlington, Texas. In her defense, our national anthem is often messed up and she played the mistake off quite well.
In case you missed it, we’ve got video and the actual lyrics, which are based on a poem by Francis Scott Key. Poor Christina—first a divorce, now this. SMH/LOL.
The Star-Spangled Banner
O! say can you see by the dawn’s early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming,
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets’ red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there;
O! say does that star-spangled banner yet wave,
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

Wow, my 10 year old could have done a better job!!! Disgraceful!
What a moron, pathetic national disgrace!
I completey agree. How can you mess up a the national anthem. Disgraceful to say the least.
It was a mess. When are they going to stop booking these superficial sex-pop-tart divas to sing out National Anthem? The song really does have a melody.

Too bad the jets didn’t fly over sooner. Could have provided some much needed “air cover”.
It was all about her ego. She was trying to be the star instead of making the song the star. And you shouldn’t do that with the Star Spangled Banner, its disrespectful. It will also trip you up and make you look like a fool if you don’t concentrate. Its not an easy piece to sing well.
All the expert singers here couldve done a better job hey! What a sad and intolerable society we live in when we have to criticize someone so heavily over a minor mistake, which most people wouldnt have noticed if it wasnt for the vicious media. Shame on you all. Better luck next time Christina.
