BET Has Officially Ruined The Game

Is it me, or is The Game getting more and more difficult to watch as the weeks go by? If you’ve been holding out hope that BET would salvage a respectable show that was unceremoniously tossed from the CW, you were wrong. BET has pretty much buried it.

After Tuesday’s episode where Malik magically falls in love only to have the owner’s wife threaten him with rape if he doesn’t continue to sex her up, I’ve thrown in the towel…again.

What the hell is this show doing to itself? I’ve already mentioned the confused laugh track in a previous post. Now let’s talk about the wretched pacing and super-duper overly over-dramatic acting, storylines and characters. Is it me, or does EVERY episode feel like a season finale? Nothing is subtle on the show anymore. It’s all or nothing each episode, as if BET feels they have to beat us over the head with drama in order to keep our attention. Baby that’s not yours only to find out it is? Pow! Star quarterback who goes from slightly obnoxious to druggie bad guy with a piss poor attitude that reluctantly heads to rehab and finds the love of his life? Boom! An ex-wife turned obnoxious reality star whose daughter get the Becky on Roseanne treatment (look it up). Whoosh! Older woman whose excessive spending and ghetto-fabulous mentality has gone from 0-120 and nearly causes her to lose her boyfriend who must be nearly two decades her junior. Bam!

It’s just that bad.

Why couldn’t they pace the show like it’s not on life support? Every storyline feels rushed and every character is overacted in the most annoying manner. I didn’t expect it to get this bad, but it did. Can’t say I didn’t see it coming.

BET could have given The Game faithful something which resembles the show they initially fell in love with. It’s like sending your daughter to school and she comes back a scantly clad hoochie after one day. It really only took one episode to see where the was going but most of us stuck around just to see how bad the car accident would get. Each week, another car hits the pileup and we’re left shaking our heads in amazement as we say to ourselves “I can’t believe they went there.”

But I fear that the worst has yet to come.

And if you just so happen to like the show, disregard this entire message because it will probably just piss you off.

Nothing to add. Excellent post! It’s as if you were reading my mind.

I love it regardless so womp-womp, that’s the author’s of the article opinion and yeah it’s dull of drama but it’s entertaining if it was some corny skiw building type mess I would be annoyed.

Finally someone has said what I was thinking! THe once funny and witty show is now complete crap. With the awkward laugh track and all the drama and abrupt endings of episodes I’m not even interested in the show anymore. I dont know who they let go from the previous seasons- but whoever it was they need to find them and BRING THEM BACK! because this show wont last much longer unless it turns things around.

I been saying the exact same thing. Where is the comedy from the previous seasons? Its like watching Young and the Restless now. Every Tues, full of drama. It fell off.

C’mon ya’ll!! This is a guilty pleasure and who doesn’t want some ho’s in their room when they get back from the game? Or to have their wife set up a threesome? I say the only problem is that it needs to be an hour long train wreck!!

Finally! Someone hits it right on the nail.

I think they lied when they said “EVERYBODY is back” because there is NO WAY this show is still being run by the same people.

The storylines are TOO dramatic and too predictable now, the comedy… well there is none.

Everything is way too over the top, so it’s no wonder the ratings went from 7.7 million now to 3 million.. smh.

You’re just taking a jab at BET. I personally love The Game and feel that it needs to be an hour long. THE GAME IS BACK!!

B.E.T has massacred The Game. Unless the 5th season tries to return to its roots meaning bringing back the comedy and BRINGING BACK KELLY, I will not watch it anymore. The first 3 seasons were laugh out loud funny as well dramatic. A good combo of both elements that were well balanced and made it an original hit. Now its just all dramatic and no comedy and loved characters are fading away i.e. Kelly and Jason. If they dont bring back what made it a hit in the first place they lose this viewer I can tell you that much.

Totally agree here with this assessment as the biggest gripe is the poor piss portrayal of Malik here:
First off, the Malik I know would never have let a cheating skank like Parker punk him in that way whatsoever. I mean this is the same Malik who is a very experienced womanizer, so he would have never let Parker check him like that. Plus, doesn’t Malik have a sex tape on all the women he slept with as a Sabres player? Wouldn’t he have had a sex tape or two on Parker when they were screwing? All Malik had to say to Parker is that if she tried to stick with those false rape charges that he would release those sex tapes to shut her ass up. Plus I don’t believe that Malik would have to go to Tee Tee for the idea about the tape recorder when he would have thought that up by himself beforehand.
Also, why would Parker care if Malik found someone else when she knew it was only a fling? Wouldn’t she have found another fuck-buddy if this were the case? Unless Malik really put it down good, I don’t see her going out of her way to keep him.
