By our estimations, there are approximately 657,352,149 games that are currently available for you to download to your mobile phone. No, really. There are. We’ve been sitting here since last August counting all of them…

Okay, so we’re obviously just kidding. There aren’t that many games out there right now. But there are literally more than you can count available through The App Store and the Android Market. There are so many, in fact, that it can become daunting to find one that you actually like. Some are too elementary, others aren’t well-developed, and then there are a bunch that cost money that you probably look at and wonder, “Is that really worth me punching in my iTunes password?” So to make things easier for you, we came up with a list of the five mobile games that everyone should have on their mobile phones. Hurry up and get in the game!

1. The Games: Angry Birds and Words With Friends

The Premise: Get addicted!

Why You Need Them Now: By now, you better know about both of these games. They’re basically the best way to blow 20 minutes while you get your oil changed, sit in the doctor’s office, or pretend to pay attention while your significant other tells you about their day…Ha! Just kidding about that last one. But the icons for these two games should be right next to the icons for your incoming email and your text messages. Once you install them, they’ll became that important.

2. The Game: NinJump

The Premise: Help guide a ninja from the bottom of a wall to the top without falling off

Why You Need It Now: It’s fun, it’s fast, and it’s free. If you’re looking to improve your reflexes and you’ve got the hand/eye coordination to keep up, NinJump is a great way to blow 10 minutes…or an entire afternoon if you’re lucky.

3. The Game: Dizzypad

The Premise: Guide a frog from one lilly pad to the next while picking up extra lives in the process

Why You Need It Now: Like NinJump, Dizzypad is free and it’s super addictive once you start playing it. Unlike NinJump, though, you don’t need to have the reflexes of, well, a ninja to play it.

4. The Game: Sims 3

The Premise: Control your simulated world from the palm of your hand now that this popular computer game is available for you to play from anywhere at anytime

Why You Need It Now: It’ll set you back seven bucks, but that’s cheap compared to what you’d pay for the computer version of the game. The iPhone’s Retina Display also helps make the characters you control crystal-clear and offers up a whole new experience on this classic game.

5. The Games: Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars

The Premise: Like the GTA games that are available for your favorite gaming console, Chinatown Wars puts you right in the middle of the chaos of all the gang wars, drive-by shootings, and muggings that you can handle

Why You Need Them Now: At $9.99, the price is steep. But surprisingly, Chinatown Wars is every bit as fun and addictive as the GTA games you’ve played on PlayStation and XBox. It’s a real credit to Rockstar Games that they were able to take their successful franchise and put it into app form without losing the essence of the game.
