Nicki Minaj sat down with Teen VOGUE recently to talk style, beauty, advice to new artists and more:

Have you always had bold style?
“I’ve constantly tried new things, even as a child, and have always been obsessed with the color pink. Now I’m just a little more ladylike and fearless. You should never feel afraid to become a piece of art. It’s exhilarating.”

Do you have an essential fashion item?
“Flat knee-high boots! They can be cheap or expensive, purple, green, yellow, pink—you name it. I’m in heels a lot so I love when I can slip my boots on. They’re comfortable and cute!”

Who are your favorite designers?
“I just love off-the-wall, radical, colorful pieces. Lately I find myself in Versace and Alexander McQueen. As for shoes, a sexy Louboutin heel always does the trick.”

Is there a beauty item that you can’t live without?
“Pink lipstick! I did an amazing project with M.A.C and created my Pink 4 Friday shade. It was a great experience.”

Have you ever worn a look and regretted it the next day?
“All the time, but it’s the price you pay when you wanna play!”

Do you have advice for new struggling artists?
“Your victory is right around the corner. Never give up.”

Nicki Minaj is set to join Britney Spears on the upcoming “Femme Fatale” tour, beginning June 16 in Sacramento, CA.

Fearless or tasteless? Her stylist needs to kill his/her self. She would look so much more beautiful if she would tone it down. Her whole crew dresses like shit. Ke$ha, Riri, Katy, all of them. Not everybody has to try and be Gaga. SMH Just makes me wonder how tow she looks without her wigs and clown face. Yall have created a monster(and no not in a good way). Can’t wait til this phase is over…yuck. Was excited to finally hear a new female hip-hop cd and her album was straight pop. Hip-hop and RnB please come back :-(
