NYPD Slammed For Providing Diddy With Police Escort
The NYPD is being criticized after Sean “Diddy” Combs was provided a police escort to the after party of his Hammerstein Ballroom show on Friday. John Mahdessian, a dry cleaner who assisted with wardrobe for the concert, requested the escort for Diddy after plans to fly the hip-hop mogul by helicopter to the party’s venue (Club 4 Sixty 6 in West Orange, NJ – according to the NYPD, the escort only went as far as a block from the tunnel) were scrapped because of issues with the FAA. One person criticizing New York’s Finest for the snafu is Mayor Bloomberg, who, according to the NY Post, said:
“The bottom line is the police department should treat everybody exactly the same. If you don’t get a police escort, P. Diddy shouldn’t.”
According to Bloomberg, the only time a police escort should be used is during “a security issue,” and added:
“I would assume there was no reason for [the police escort], but I just don’t know.”
Well, Diddy did say he ran New York, and as far as the expenses go for his impromptu police escort, I guess the City of New York will just have to take that, take that (shrugs shoulders).
