Hot off the heels of his #2 showing in the box office with Madea’s Big Happy Family, Tyler Perry and TBS have announced that a third television show by Perry will soon hit the network.

Based off of Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married films, Tyler Perry’s For Better Or Worse will hit the small screen sooner than you think. Starring Michael Jai White and Tasha Smith, the show will follow the relationship of Marcus and Angela after the last Why Did I Get Married film. For those that have seen the movie, you know exactly what to expect—a turbulent relationship and a bunch of comedy.

With ten episodes already ordered, the show is expected to begin filming this summer at the Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta.

With House of Payne and Meet the Browns already on the network and what appears to be a constant influx of movies on the market, do we really need another Tyler Perry show?

Obviously, there’s a market for Perry’s films, plays and movies. But perhaps we are truly nearing the over-saturation point of Perry’s career. They say “strike while the iron is hot” and Perry hasn’t given it a second thought. But you have to wonder when one of these shows is going to fail his core audience and a backlash takes place. Sooner or later, a “Tyler Perry” product will be shunned because of the name in front of it, regardless of the quality of the product. A third television show could be the recipe for disaster.

Then again, it could be the recipe for success. The Perry brand is strong and those who follow him, follow everything with his name on it. You better believe that once For Better or Worse airs, the Perry faithful will make sure to support it.

Who knows, it might actually be a good show.
