Basketball Wives Returns

Whether we like it or not, Shaunie, Evelyn, Jennifer, Royce, Tami, and Suzie are back with more drama in the latest season of Basketball Wives. Season 3 of the show premieres at the end of the month and features all the ladies and their chickenhead-like antics. Admittedly, Basketball Wives has been one of my guilty pleasures over the last year or so, and this season promises to bring even more ass whippings (courtesy of Tami) and Evelyn-isms (who can forget “you were a non-motherf*cking factor b*tch?”). According to a press release sent out by VH1:

“Season 3 begins with Shaunie O’Neal settling back into Miami determined to be drama free. Shaunie balances a new shoe line, her love life, family outings and being a shoulder to lean on for the other ladies. Can she handle the pressure? Evelyn makes the transition from a basketball wife to a football wife with fiancé Chad Ochocinco. The cameras will catch Jennifer leaving Eric behind and navigating a new lifestyle as a single lady. With Royce’s new larger-than-life attitude, viewers will see if there is enough room for involvement with Jen, Evelyn and Shaunie or if her attitude will take the spotlight. Left hurt and betrayed, Tami works on rebuilding her trust for the ladies and moving on from the past. But before she is able to forget the past, Tami must face an unexpected challenge from Evelyn who is given the unusual opportunity to profit from last season’s blowout in unexpected ways.”

An unfamiliar face will join the fold this season as Meeka Claxton, the wife of retired point guard Speedy Claxton, will be the newest edition to the cast. It remains to be seen whether Meeka will make a worthy addition to the show (and that depends on whether or not she’s willing to make a complete fool of herself on national television), but at least she brings some legitimacy to the “wives” part of Basketball Wives. Be sure to check out the premiere of the new season on Monday, May 30 at 8pm.
