If you’ve been glued to your TV sets, soaking in every minute of the NBA Playoffs despite the Knicks early exit, you’ve probably seen this 15 second Powerade spot. The commercial is a congratulatory one to Derrick Rose, the youngest MVP in NBA history, a feat formerly held by Wes Unseld. While the commercial is well executed visually and features Rose showing off his jack-rabbit swiftness with the ball, the moves are mirrored by one J. Cole. “Hollywood Cole” as he’s affectionately known is on a very similar meteoric rise to Derrick Rose. His lyrical wit and demeanor on the mic are possibly surpassed by his exquisite ear as a calculated producer. Powerade took notice of the burgeoning MC and paired his tune up nicely with Rose’s achievement. Check it out below.
