Are Barack Obama Rap Video Spoofs Still Funny?

If there’s one thing that’s become pretty unfunny during the POTUS’ tenure, it’s been the variety of videos featuring Barack Obama rapping. The worst video thus far has come from “Baraka Flocka Flame” but now, with Osama bin Laden killed, a new video has surfaced featuring Obama rapping about the successful mission to oust bin Laden. Iman Crosson portrays Obama once again (he has several videos on YouTube). In this spoof he rhymes about the mission while littering pop culture references throughout the three minute video. He also busts the Dougie, which appears to be the go to move for everyone these days. While it does have its moments, it’s just another video of Obama being down with hip-hop culture. That’s cool and everything, but is it really necessary to have Obama kicking rhymes whenever he does anything substantial?

Yes, Obama rap spoofs can still be funny.

Instead of grouping all rap videos together as this article appears to do, look at the creative merits and level of intelligent commentary within each one. And have you considered that the smarter videos are themselves making commentaries about pop culture? Iman Crosson’s Alphacat videos are much smarter than you give credit for.

That’s what spoofs are about–not just including the “go to move for everyone lately” as you say.

Why, yes Andreas, it is necessary… and oh so funny! Shakespeare wrote ‘brevity is the soul of wit’. Well, I say levity is the soul. Rap on Iman, you’re funny is smart and appreciated.

I tried to send this You tube to friends…and now it says that it has been “copywrited” …what gives? I checked the website of the one who “purchased it” but the website isn’t even up! By the time they get it up the rap will be old. I thought this would have been a great opening for Saturday Night Live this week.

The rap spoofs are old, unfunny and stupid. I’m still holding out for a good Baraka Obama, Mortal Kombat spoof.
