Omarion Releases New Mixtape, The Awakening
Omarion and DJ Drama have just dropped O’s first ever mixtape, The Awakening, featuring 19 solid tracks with big name hip-hop guests including Lil Wayne, Method Man, YG and more.
“I did a lot of self-searching and figured a lot out about myself and what music should mean to people,” Omarion says via phone from Los Angeles. “After being opposed to the mixtape concept, I realized how cool it might be.”
Describing how there are no boundaries within the music business, he now believes an artist must be good at different things. “You can’t just know how to sing. You must be able to rap, dance and use the computer. I feel like this is a good opportunity for myself.”
In addition to the music, Omarion also touches on the importance of true love and how he believes “love is the premise of life,” explaining that R&B is “chivalry” and something our culture needs to get back to.
