TUMI And Ducati Team Up To Release A Super Fly Line Of Luxury Bags

Looking to cop a new piece of luggage for all of your summer travels? A little piece of advice: Don’t do it! Or, at the very least, don’t blow the bank on a pricey piece of luggage.

We say that because because, earlier this week, the New York Post reported that luxe lifestyle brand TUMI and Italian motorcycle company Ducati announced that they’ll be producing a fresh new line of backpacks, briefcases, and travel bags. The only catch: They won’t be available for purchase until the fall, meaning you won’t be able to take them on all of your trips this summer.

No worries, though. It sounds like the luxe luggage might actually be worth the wait. Unlike other luxury companies that have collaborated in the past, TUMI and Ducati aren’t simply slapping their names on the new line and letting that be the major selling point. Instead, they’re combining luxury elements from both brands and using them to design each of the seven pieces that will be featured in the line.

“I don’t see it as a story of motorcycles and luggage,” TUMI CEO Jerome Griffith said earlier this week when the line was announced. “I see it as a story of two design companies.”

Dope. But there is some bad news that could potentially come out of that: Don’t expect anything from the line to come cheap. With most of the bags in the TUMI line going for at least a couple hundred bucks right now and Ducatis at the high end of the motorcycle pricing spectrum, we’d expect pieces from the collection to go for several hundred bucks, at least. But that’s a small price to pay for one of the flyest bags you’ll ever carry through an airport, right?
