Summer Blockbusters You Can’t Miss: X-Men, Transformers, Harry Potter
It’s that time of year again. People are getting out of school, proms are being held, the weather is getting warmer and skirts and sleeves are getting shorter. That can only mean one thing. It’s time for the annual race to the top for some of the biggest and best special-effects films of the year, the summer blockbusters. Judging by the looks of things, I’d say the film industry is going to get a lot of my money this go-round because there are plenty of films out there which look absolutely stunning. Which ones should you go see? I’m glad you asked…
X-Men: First Class
First of all, with so many films out there showing us superheroes in their prime, the premise of this movie is ingenious. How about finding out how it all started with the X-Men? We’ll see how the powers developed, as well as their personalities, alliances, and so on, making these heroes more real as we watch them struggle, be vulnerable, and eventually master their abilities. They’ve just released quite a few trailers of this film. I’d call this a must see.
As the title suggests, the third installation of Transformers is headed up, up, and away from the planet Earth. This time, there are astronauts, space shuttles, and oh yeah…the Decepticons end up taking over our entire planet. By now, everyone knows that Megan Fox has been replaced thank God with Victoria’s Secret runway model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. The film will be shown in 3D and director Michael Bay has stated that this will end his work with the series. That may mean Transformers will back away for awhile, or it may mean a film reset very soon. Either way, the trailer makes this one look fairly final.
Transformers: Dark Of The Moon will cruise into theaters July 1.
Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows
I am not a Harry Potter fan whatsoever. In fact, probably my favorite part about this film is that it will bring the series to a close. However, that does not negate the fact that Harry Potter almost instantly became a cultural and media phenomenon with best-selling books spawning box-office bombshells. Ending Harry Potter mania once and for all will certainly be a major event this summer. With Part 1 having already debuted late last year, all that’s left is for the young bespectacled wizard to finish his final fight and ride off into the sunset.
Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows will conclude on July 15 in theaters nationwide.
