Our content team was sitting in a meeting here at DrJays.com when we saw tweets about Jonas Bevacqua passing away. I immediately called one of LRG‘s team members in the California office, where Jonas worked, to see if it was true. All he said is “yes, we lost him.” He passed away yesterday, May 30th, in Los Angeles.

Jonas, who held the title as LRG’s creative director, helped develop an innovative brand that continues to firmly stand against the test of time. Thriving for over 10 years now, LRG has managed to maintain its cool even as it went mainstream. The brand is one of few that has the ability to reach such a wide audience—from skaters to your preppy guy and everything in between. LRG is one of DrJays.com’s top brands, and it’s not hard to see why.

Just two weeks ago, Jonas and LRG’s entire design team was in New York. We linked up and had a blast. After seeing Jonas interact with his crew during this visit, I will remember him as a man who understands the value of a strong team; a team he treated like family.

This is a sad day for the fashion industry, as we lost one of its legends. Many of us, including the folks I spoke with at LRG, are still in shock. Jonas’ fun spirit and sense of humor will very much be missed. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends.

RIP JONAS BEVACQUA

Jonas was a great guy, talented, humble…. he had so many virtues we love… having working with him for 9 years, he was such a great person! He rocked the world of this industry. It’s a very sad day for us…
