If Snoop Dogg gets his way, then a hip-hop version of American Idol will be coming to our televisions in the near future. Reportedly, the west coast hip-hop legend is shopping a show that will have a panel of hip-hop icons searching for the next big star of hip-hop. According to Page Six:

“We hear that Oxygen, Bravo and NBC aren’t biting but that E! and MTV have shown interest. Sources say Snoop is touting that the show could be as popular as Fox’s American Idol, but TV execs are not convinced.”

When it comes to who Snoop wants to grace the judging panel, the “Drop It Like It’s Hot” rapper has at least one particular bold-faced name in mind. An insider said:

“He wants to bring in an old school legend, and he wants to get Jay-Z.”

Purportedly, Snoop already has the support of rapper Wiz Khalifa as the “Black and Yellow” rapper will likely be involved. Now I’m not too sure about how successful this show will be (if it gets picked up), but one thing I do know for sure is frisking people for weapons during the auditions may not be a bad idea. I’m just saying…
